Professor Paolo Giudici

Paolo is professor of business law at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Bozen-Bolzano, ECGI Research Associate and fellow professor at Tilburg University. Paolo graduated in law in 1987 from Genoa University (magna cum laude). He started his practice in London (Reynolds Johnson and Green, then Richards Butler), then returned to Italy where he was admitted to the bar in 1991 and worked with Professor Guido Ferrarini covering almost any area of business and commercial law. Since 2002 Paolo has focused his practice on his main area of academic research, which is securities and corporate law. He has advised on transactions and worked on litigation matters concerning IPO, delistings, takeovers, shareholder rights and activism, insider trading and market abuse, issuers’ liability, derivatives, breach of conduct rules by banks, asset managers’ duties, directors’ and auditors’ liability, stock exchange’s and securities watchdog’s duties. Paolo has published three books and a very long list of articles and book chapters on Italian and European top law journals and books. He has delivered over 100 keynote, plenary or invited conference presentations, and research seminars. He is on the board of editors of “Le Società”, where he is in charge of financial and capital markets law and reviews all most important Italian court decisions in the area.

Eugenio Bissocoli, LLM

Eugenio has substantial experience in insolvency & restructuring and litigations gained in leading domestic and international law firms in Genoa, Milan and London. He graduated from the University of Genoa cum laude in 1993 and obtained an LLM in corporate and international business from Fordham Law School in New York in 1995. He is a member of the Italian bar since 1996.  His main practice areas are: 1) insolvency and corporate litigations; 2) insolvency & restructuring; 3) distressed M&A transactions; 4) M&A transactions. He has considerable experience in advising financial international and domestic creditors in respect of insolvency proceedings of large Italian debtors and in the purchase of assets from insolvent and distressed Italian debtors.

Alessandro Bonati

Alessandro has developed a deep knowledge in commercial, corporate and bankruptcy law, representing both public and private companies, with particular focus on mergers, acquisitions, corporate law, extraordinary transactions and corporate crisis. He has focused his expertise on debt restructuring and company reorganisation, representing investors, insolvent companies and creditors. He has also advised bankruptcy receivers in some of the most complex legal actions in the interest of creditors (i.e. claw-back action such as bankruptcy claw-back action, liability action). He advices Private Clients, mainly in relation to successions and generational transfers, management of family estates, trusts and asset management.  He graduated cum laude from the University of Genoa in 2007, and was admitted to the Italian Bar as a member of the Genoa Bar Association in 2012.

Valentina Imperiale, LLM

Graduated in Law in 2010 at University of Genoa 110/110 cum laude, Valentina completed with honours a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property (LLM) held by the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy and the University of Turin (2012) and was admitted to the bar in 2013. Valentina has matured substantial experience in assisting domestic and international clients in the areas of commercial, insolvency and corporate litigation and advice.

Valeria Barbaresi, LLM

Graduated in Law in 2015 at University of Genoa, 110/110 cum laude, admitted to the bar in 2019. Master of Laws (LL.M) in Finance at the Institute for Law and Finance in Frankfurt in 2019. PhD student in business law at University La Sapienza (Rome). Since 2015 she has been working in litigation matters and transactions concerning corporate law, financial and capital markets law.
